Bulky Waste

Bulky waste refers to large waste items that cannot be recycled and – even after reasonable crushing – do not fit in the approved 120 l or 240 l non-recyclable waste containers. Normally, these are worn out household items, which can be taken to the Merzig recycling centre in return for a fee.

As well as taking it to the recycling centre, every household also has the option of reporting its bulky waste and arranging a collection date.
The fee for bulky waste collection is € 10. This includes a fixed transport charge and a weight charge for up to 50 kg. An additional € 1 is charged for each supplementary full or partial 5 kg.
Used electrical equipment is NOT bulky waste and must be taken to the Merzig recycling centre due to the requirements in the legislation governing used electrical and electronic equipment.
